Making low carb simple
Instructions
Instructions are for 4 servings. Please modify as needed.
Preheat the oven to 450°F (225°C) and grease a 9 x 12" (22 x 30 cm) pan.
In a large pan, over medium heat, fry the vegetables in butter, until slightly soft. Set aside in a bowl.
Add the meat to the frying pan, and cook until slightly pink. Then reduce temperature to medium-low, adding garlic, spices, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
Return the veggies to the pan and stir.
Place everything into the baking dish and sprinkle the cheese on top.
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbling and turns golden brown.
Drizzle hot sauce on top, and serve with leafy greens and olive oil.

I saute steak or ground turkey in little olive oil adding a tiny amount of lowery's seasoning right at the the end of cooking and saute peppers and onions in a little olive oil and use the steak and peppers mixture as an omelet filling. Sometimes I add cheese sometimes I don't.
I don't like the marinara sauce or the italian seasonings on a cheese steak. Just my opinion but the recipe above is too watery also.

This was tasty! We added hot pepper sauce - just a bit and it was great.

OMG! This is soooo tasty! I didn't have marinara sauce so used a bit of salsa - yum! I will do this recipe often.

Delicious! Left out the marinara and instead used some avocado ranch dressing on a kale and butter lettuce salad. Hubby had his as a traditional sandwich. Said it was the best cheesesteak I’ve made!

I used ground beef instead of steak, it works so well and tasted soooo good. Will try it with steak with I get the chance! Thank you!

I’ve made it twice but without the marinara. My hubby eats his on a French roll as he is not following a keto diet. We both love this recipe. Slicing a thick ribeye thinly against the grain and on a bias is key to tenderness. Trim off any large areas of fat too. Use a very large pan and simply move the veggies to the side to add your steak on the other side. Fewer things to clean that way. You can pop that in the oven instead of transferring to a casserole if you use an ovenproof pan. 😊

Also thinly slice onions and peppers approximately 1/4 inch thick into short strips and dice baby Bella mushrooms.

To save money, my butcher recommended Chip Steak as a substitute for Ribeye Steak, which can be pricey

Leafy greens and olive oil are served as a side dish?

I thought onions were a big no no on Keto because of their high carb content. On my carb manager they rank it as an F for Keto friendly foods and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere to avoid them. Do you happen to have nutritional facts/breakdown of Carbs, Fat, Protein, Calories per serving?

No oven needed. Just place the provolone on top as your last step, and cover your pan for 5 minutes to melt the cheese into the mixture. Best recipe yet! My wife agrees, though she likes it with hot sauce and I prefer without. Yumms!

What marinara sauce is everyone talking about? I don't see any marinara in this recipe.

This recipe may have been updated and the comments about marinara reflect an earlier version. Sometimes the recipes are tweaked to make improvements or lower the carb count.

If you don't have provolone, mozzarella would be a better substitute. Cheddar has a much different texture and taste than provolone.

I am BIG on cheese. So I let the meat/veggie mixture come to room temperature after pouring into baking dish, then mixed some cheese, then topped with more. This is a repeat recipe in our house.
