Shreveport man arrested for string of car thefts (2)

SHREVEPORT, La. - One man is under arrest, accused of spearheading a Caddo Parish car theft ring.

According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, on June 18, Det. Adam Jones and the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Demarcus Clements, 34, at Bally's Casino in downtown Shreveport. Clements is facing multiple charges, includingillegal possession of stolen property, unauthorized entry of a place of business and motor vehicle theft.

Sheriff’s detectives believe Clements stole more than 21 vehicles in Caddo Parish. He first came under investigation in 2022 for the theft of several vehicles at the Union Pacific Railroad Reiser Yard on West Bert Kouns.Authorities say after stealing the vehicles, healtered their appearance by covering their original paint with a vinyl wrap.

A search warrant obtained during the investigation led to the discovery of keyevidence confirming Clements as the ringleader in the theft of 18 additional cars from the Greater Shreveport Auto Auction on Greenwood Road.

When Clements was found, he tried to get away but was captured by Jones and Task Force agents.

Clements was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
