The 28 best markets in Cambridge (2024)

Lets Go Punting is an agency that offers boat tours down the river in Cambridge. The tours vary on price depending on how many people are on board and whether you want to relax and take in the sights or learn about the city's history from guides. As a busy city centre destination, Cambridge is a great place to explore by boat!

We enjoyed our tour very much. After seeing other tour companies in smaller boats and a lot of individuals trying (and failing) along the way, I was glad we chose this company. Guide was efficient, informed and funny. Recommend.

We really enjoyed our tour. Josh was brilliant at punting and was friendly to everyone on the tour. The information he gave was interesting. Well worth the money. Also so glad we had a tour rather than trying it ourselves- we saw someone fall in trying to punt themselves!

Absolutely fantastic experience! My partner and I had such a relaxing and fun time drinking champagne together and taking in the breathtaking views of the University colleges. I liked that the fact they allowed us to take our own champagne and they were very welcoming and it was easy enough to find.I also want to give a big shout out to Soma, the Hungarian man who punted for us who was exceptionally friendly and enthusiastic throughout. He is a true asset to the team and knows his stuff with the history of the colleges as well which added interesting discussions whilst on our journey. My partner and I would definitely recommend this company and will be coming again in the near future.

We went on a lovely private punting tour. Our chauffeur was Noah, he was really skillful at smoothly navigating our punt through the river. Though the tour he gave us interesting facts and trivia about Cambridge in general along with the colleges and bridges along the river. Noah was courteous, friendly, funny and overall a gentleman. Would highly recommend Noah for anyone thinking of going on a nice punting tour. A lovely experience and highly recommend!!!

My friends and I did a punting tour with Let’s Go Punting during a trip to Cambridge, and absolutely loved it! Our guide Cameron was so knowledgable, friendly and also funny, which really made the tour. The booking process was very easy and straight forward, as was the checking in process on the day. Would definitely recommend booking a tour with Let’s Go Punting - it’s a must do whilst in Cambridge, and a great way to see the sights!

Amazing punting experience! This is a must-do activity. Interesting facts and stories were shared by the punter. The tour lasted 45 mins, and was reasonably priced (£20 for two people) shared punting.Parking : in Cambridge is a challenge however park and ride locations are available. Park and Ride services were closed on New Years Day so its worth checking beforehand on their website for closures and such.Unfortunately all Cambridge colleges are closed for visitors due to Covid restrictions. But the walk around Cambridge city centre, by the river Cam outside the colleges and visit is still worth every bit.

It was fun and relaxing way to get tour of River Cam, tour lasted approximately 50 mins paid £100 for 8 people 4 kids and 4 adults. The chauffeur was doing his best but was not particularly knowledgeable about the buildings or bridges most of the information I'd picked up from my research. There was no information that he'd give that you'd say wow. He was friendly enough which was nice. But there where other punters from the same company "lets going punting" who were lot more knowledgeable. The punt was not overcrowded. The price obviously varies could be less or more. I paid for Shared punt. Overall it was pleasant experience nice way to see some of the colleges and bridges along the river bank.

If you had not tried Punting in Cambridge, it’s a must do. We avoided the weekends and peak times of the day as the River Cam can be rather crowded. But it really depends on which guide you get for your 45mins to be enjoyable and if you have fellow punting passengers who ain’t that nice n friendly. For this punting we had yesterday with guide Ewan, it was simply marvellous and ended our day’s Cambridge city tour on a high!! He was fun, cheerful, extremely knowledgeable and charming.Prices by different companies are all quite comparable and we chose this company as the sales person (Chinese HK chap) was simply not pushy and took effort to explain the tour and gave us a good price for the sundown last punt ride. You will sail pass all the famous colleges and see amazing sight and if the guide is as good as Ewan, hear really good insight stories about Cambridge, the colleges, and how the various Kings attended Cambridge. Will definitely come for the punting again when I visit Cambridge next time.

It was a great experience. Loved the calm punting on the river, floating in the middle of prestigious colleges of Cambridge University. A beautiful sight to experience and our guide was very informative telling us about the history of all the sights we passed by.

Our family group of four adults and five children had an excellent experience. Our guide was personable and knowledgeable and provided an entertaining historical presentation. The cost was about half that of other punting companies, and we got excellent value for our money. Booking online was easy, and text communication great. Highly recommend!

I had an incredible experience with Cambridge punting. Our guide, Paul, was not only amazing but also smart, interesting, and very nice. The entire tour was a delight, especially with the fantastic weather and picturesque location. The staff were absolutely amazing and patient, as I had prebooked for 8 people, and we were late, but they held the boat for us. Everyone on the staff was incredibly helpful. Thank you for a wonderful experience! I highly recommend it.

Went to Cambridge last weekend with my partner and decided to do some punting and came across ‘Let’s Go Punting’. Had the best time looking at the beautiful buildings in Cambridge. Our guide Sam was absolutely amazing, hilarious, and gave us great historical knowledge of the city!

Thomas B was excellent as our punter/guide. The sights are very beautiful, Thomas was knowledgeable, told us a lot about the history, answered our questions. Overall very relaxing experience. We ordered a private service and they had a reasonable price, definitely worth it.

LGP was brilliant 👏🏼.We had "Captain" Matt as our punter and he was a lovely lad who guided and entertained us throughout our punt! He told us the historical facts, made us laugh with jokes and told several short stories about the different colleges. We enjoyed thoroughly and even managed to get a beverage along the river which made it that much more pleasurable 🍻

Wedding Anniversary Celebration! We booked a private punting tour on the River Cam well in advance, first hour in the morning, and to our delight, we were the only ones on the tour. We had the entire river to ourselves, and there was no other boat traffic to contend with. It was our first time, but it turned out to be an unforgettable experience that we'll cherish forever. The punter, or tourist guide, is knowledgeable about the area and will provide interesting commentary about the history and architecture of the city as you glide along the river.A must-do activity for visitors to Cambridge. It's a beautiful, stunning in the morning, and the chilly weather adds to the charm of the trip.

I absolutely loved and enjoyed the experience so much! It was raining terribly but the punting was so much more enjoyable because of our guide! It was an amazing experience and I would 100000 percent recommend it! I’m sure on a sunny day it’s a dream!

Amazing, informative, relaxed and memorable. Our guide James was polite and professional. We had to wait for a 5 yr old to rush to the toilet before the punting experience and they waited patiently. This experience is more cost effective then others offering the same so definitely recommend 100%

I am a carer and I took several elderly to visit Cambridge yesterday. As soon as we arrived I asked a few punting companies where the toilets were, they only wanted to talking about the punting hire price but only Patrick from Let's Go Punting, he pointed out where the toilet were with his lovely smile.I went back to him afterwards for the punting and he saw me with my group of elderly, he gave me a very good price and good service.I must say a big thanks to Noah the punter, he's so professional, very knowledgeable of Cambridge history and funny. Our group had amazing time and so much fun. 100% enjoyed it.

Good, reliable service. The sales people here are less aggressive as some others on the plank by the river.Big surprise for a town like Cambridge—you’d expect a certain standard considering its history and academic prestige—but beware of predatory sales techniques by these seeming young and innocent college chaps on the board by the river. I was aggressively approached and haggled with a couple that reminded me of my experiences in Cairo rather than Cambridge.Book online, or at least check so as not to be swindled to pay more than you need to.

What a wholesome experience.!Tom G's knowledge and passion for history were fascinating and made for an even better experience.I learnt and laughed which is always a great combo, thank you for the marvelous tour. My friend from Netherlands, my 7yr old son and myself truly enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you 😊

Even though our guide didn't speak much on his own, he was able to answer all our questions about colleges and the river. It's a quite nice ride and allows you to see Cambridge from a different perspective.Something that I would do again if I get the chance.

Ginger James was a great tour guide! Shared many interesting tidbits about the school, was friendly and chatty too. The staff were great too (there was a friendly lady [forgot her name 🙈] at the pier who helped us reschedule our tour as we were late!). Made the tour worth it. Would definitely recommend.

Siu Ching Wong — Google review

We had an amazing time! Ewan, our punter, was professional and knowledgeable about the school as well as of history and details concerning alumni of the university with some excellent anecdotes. Much recommended!

Katy Lee — Google review

A great company with boats that you can sit in rather than lay down. Excellent steering and a very knowledgeable chauffeur. A definite activity on the to do list in Cambridge. Thanks to the team.
